Because politics is about who we elect to represent us to the world, we should expect that it's not about what is to the left and what is to the right, nor who is right, but what is right. It's about integrity, and honor and keeping the Peace. Negotiating for the benefit of all, not the where with all of one person's or groups' pockets. We're all on this Earth together and we elect leaders and hope they follow the right path, no matter the political curve in the road.
